When People think of North Carolina They think of the furniture market, barbeque, beautiful mountains, and amazing beaches, but many people don't know that the Revolutionary War once took place there. On March 15, 1781 General Nathan Greene defended the Guilford Courthouse in Greensboro with a army of only 4500 men. These men where not properly trained soldieries they where your every day country man, they where up against 1,900 of veteran British solders who had heavy artillery. Lord Cornwallis Tactically defeated the American army, but it wasn't a total loss for Greene, with 25% of Cornwallis army defeated he found defeat in Yorktown, Virginia against General George Washington
Now if you go to where the battle took place all those years ago you will find a beautiful park where you can walk, run have a picnic go fishing or even take in the history of the battle that took place there.  There is also a meuseum about a couple of miles from the park which has a lot of great information and artifacts, they are open from 8:30am to 5:00pm. The park is the Guilford courthouse park on New Garden road

  3. Oh that's interesting I didn't know that. I wonder if that area is haunted by the soldiers that may have died there.
